Each year, a grant of up to $2000 will be awarded to support an ongoing research project (digital or traditional) on women in French and Francophone literature and culture. We invite applications from all WIF members located anywhere in the world. The annual selection will be made by a subcommittee of the WIF Studies Editorial Board. Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of their contribution to the field of study, feasibility, and need. Special attention will be given to projects that serve to highlight lesser-known authors, but awards are not restricted in any way. The award committee will develop a timeline and an application form that will include a brief proposal, budget, and the applicant's cv. The award monies can be used as needed by the researcher (e.g. research travel to conferences or archives, summer stipend, research assistant, digital hosting fees, etc.).
We are granting the first award to Bénédicte Monicat's collaborator, Morgane Haesen on the digital project on 19th Century French and Francophone women writers (see project here: https://www.19cwwfw.org/). Keep your eyes on this project as it will be ready for contributors later this year.
One year from now, we will make the second award. The subcommittee of the WIF Studies Editorial Board will develop a timeline and application that will be sent to the listserv and posted on our website within the next 10 months. Please contact WIF Studies Editor Cheryl Toman for further information.
